About NPTEL

National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is a project of MHRD initiated by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Guwahati and Roorkee) along with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2003, to provide quality education to anyone interested in learning from the IITs. The main goal was to create web and video courses in all major branches of engineering and physical sciences at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and management courses at the postgraduate level.

Students are directed to register for online learning through NPTEL Link with the choice of the required subjects in the field of Computer Science and Engineering and also encouraged to participate in the exam conducted by NPTEL, IIT Madras for getting certification in the pass, elite and topper with gold category as per the marks achieved in the examination.

Goa College of Engineering has been approved as a Local Chapter of SWAYAM NPTEL by IIT Madras (IITM) from July 2019 for helping students in taking courses under NPTEL. The Local Chapter is headed by a faculty member who is the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) with IITM. Students and faculty are highly motivated to participate in these MOOCs and stay up to date with the ever evolving technology.

  


Prof. Manisha Naik Gaonkar, Associate Professor from the Computer Engineering Department is the SPOC for this local chapter. Students and Faculty have been recognized as NPTEL STARS for their outstanding performance in the NPTEL examinations. Goa College of Engineering, NPTEL local chapter has been awarded GRADE-A Certification from Ministry of Human Resource Department, Govt of India.
